About the event:
Due to COVID-19, the youth population not in employment, education or training (NEET) increased from 267 to 281 million, with two-thirds of them being young women. Building a skilled and diverse science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce is critical for economic development, yet there is consistent underrepresentation of young women in STEM education and careers.
Collective momentum to integrate girl-centered approaches into STEM offers a promising avenue to reshape conventional forms and structures of STEM education and training.
To mark the World Science Day for Peace and Development on November 10th, the webinar will bring together experts and practitioners from the World Bank and Generation Unlimited to explore progress and advancements made in girls skilling initiatives and strategies. Speakers will provide technical insights and share promising practices on Learning-to-Earning pathways in STEM for adolescent girls and young women in lower and middle-income countries.
Register to receive the recording and presentations from the seminar “Empowering Girls in STEM: Skilling and Employment Approaches” co-organized bythe World Bank’s Skills Global Solutions Group and the Generation Unlimited on November 9, 2023.
