STEM Instructor/ Advocate I Cybersecurity SOC Analyst
Ngassa Sophie has been teaching in a Technical High School for 15 years.
She is a Techwomen 2014 Awardee of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, a Grace Hopper Celebration Scholarship 2016 recipient and Women Leaders for the World 2019 fellow.
Sophie founded a youth vocational-technical training and entrepreneurship development center in 2010; Centre for Youth Education and Economic Development (CYEED), an organization serving as a community resource center for technical training and education working to empower girls and young women towards acquiring digital skills.
She contributes passionately to an incredibly positive impact on tech inclusion via STEM training programs for young women in order to close the gender tech gap.
She promotes Women in Mozilla being the WoMoz Lead- Bamenda and is an active member of Women Techmakers Bamenda, Code4Cameroon & Women in Tech Africa. Recently awarded as World Pulse Ambassador, AnitaB.org Africa community Leader 2017.and one of the 3 Cameroonian Women Techmakers Udacity Scholarship recipient by Google in 2017.
On 29/9/16 Sophie, was a speaker at the US Congress for the Mini -Africa Day event. As the co-chair of the planning committee of Cameroon American Council, she delivered the opening presentation on Hack the Future of Cameroon’s medical Transportation in the presence of Congressmen.
Sophie has firsthand experience of the sad and devastating situation of two unprecedented internet shutdowns in Northwest and South West Regions of Cameroon in 2017.
She has a strong voice as a Digital Rights Advocate and Internet Freedom activist fighting against the internet shutdown, especially during crisis periods, and advocating for free and open internet. She co-leads the Digital Rights Coalition. She is an AFRINIC 29 and AfriSIG 19 fellow.
Sophie is a Vision Building Leadership Coach, who helps aspiring female community leaders who are struggling to implement their vision, take intentional actionable steps to build their wildest dream fast and champion their signature notable cause for social impact at the Dream Builder Academy.
